Welcome to the Mc Caig Elementary School Gladiator's Home Page. Students in our school have the opportunity to participate and play a variety of different sports activities & teams under the guidance of Mr. Strina.

 

The Mc Caig Gladiator's Hockey team plays in the Montreal Private School Elementary Hockey league during the year.(from November to March) Member schools-Selwyn House Elementary(Westmount) Lower Canada College(Montreal-West)Collège Stanislas(Outremont) Kuper Academy(Kirkland)McCaig Elementary(Rosemere)Royal Vale Elementary(Montreal-West)Notre-Dame-de Sion (Saint-Laurent)

Akiva Academy (NDG) and Solomon Schecter Academy. (Students from grades 5-6)

 

Mc Caig Elementary School also offers The Intra-Mural Gladiator's Ice Hockey Club which is opened to allstudents from grades 3 to 6 and who wish to play and learn.This club takes place afterschool: 3:45pm-5:00pm on Wednesdays at the Rosemere Arena. These students also play in our Annual McCaig Gladiators Ice Hockey Festival in February of each year, Parents are responsible for all transportation.

 

Mc Caig Basketball teams play in two differentleagues during the year.1-The first league is with the Sport-Étudiant league ( from October-December).2-The second league is the SWLLBL (Sir Wilfred Laurier Laurentian Basketball League) organised by our school board (Mid-January to March) (Grades 4 to 6)

 

IN THE FALLThe Mc Caig Cross-Country Running Team has been participating every year at the Sport-Étudiant Regional Race in October with more than 45 schools in the region since 2006.Students sign-up voluntarily to practice at lunch hour 2 to 3 times a week in the month of September and use the TERRY FOX RUN at the end of September as a preparation for the big day. Students of grade 4 complete a 1.5 km race, while students of grade 5 & 6 complete a 2km race.

 

One of the most popular activities during lunch hour takes place in March and April of each year.You guessed it..It's FLOOR HOCKEY!!! Any student who wants to participate during their lunch hour and be on a team must sign up in February.Teams are then made...Games are played...And eventually a team wins the Ultimate Gladiator Cup for that year....Good luck to all the teams!!!McCaig rocks at lunch hour!!!! Some of our teams go on to play at the Sport Etudiant Festival.
